Airbnb Security: Protecting your property between bookings and helping guests feel comfortable.

Running an Airbnb or holiday let brings a slightly different security challenge to a normal home. Your property may sit empty between bookings, while during a stay you also want guests to feel comfortable, secure and in control.
A modern smart alarm system can provide protection for both situations without making the property feel intrusive.
At ProVision Systems, we install smart alarm systems that can be managed remotely, and on site making them particularly well suited to Airbnbs, holiday lets and serviced accommodation.
Security when your Airbnb is empty
The periods between bookings can leave a holiday property particularly vulnerable. There may be nobody at the property for several days, and depending on its location, it may be relatively obvious when it is unoccupied.
With an Ajax alarm system, the owner or property manager can arm and disarm the property remotely through the Ajax app.
As part of this system, an outdoor keypad can be installed for the guest to use as they please, with a personalised pin-code sent for each booking, the pin can be changed for the next guest via the app.
Once a guest checks out, the alarm can be armed without anyone needing to visit the property. Before cleaners, maintenance contractors or other authorised people arrive, access to the system can also be managed remotely.
If you own several holiday lets, multiple properties can be managed through the same app, making it much easier to keep an eye on your portfolio from one place.

Helping your guests feel secure
Security is not only about protecting an empty property.
Think about staying in an Airbnb yourself. You might leave laptops, tablets, clothing, luggage and other valuable possessions inside while you go out for the day.
You're leaving those belongings in an unfamiliar property, often in an area you don't know particularly well.
At night, the same principle applies. Guests are sleeping somewhere unfamiliar, so simply knowing that the doors, windows and property are protected by an alarm can provide additional reassurance.
Ajax gives guests the option of using the security system during their stay, helping the property feel more like a secure home rather than simply somewhere they are temporarily sleeping.
The Ajax KeyPad Outdoor makes guest access simple
One particularly useful addition for holiday lets is the Ajax KeyPad Outdoor Jeweller.
The outdoor keypad can be positioned near the front entrance or close to the property's key lock box.
When sending the guest their arrival information, the owner can provide the alarm PIN alongside the code for the key box.
The guest can then:
Enter their unique PIN → disarm the alarm → collect/use their keys → enter the property.
There's no need for them to understand an alarm app or carry an additional alarm fob.
Even better, the owner can remotely create or change access codes through the Ajax system. A different code can therefore be provided for each booking rather than relying on one permanent alarm code being passed from guest to guest.
Why not simply put an alarm fob with the keys?
Keeping an alarm fob inside the same lock box as the property keys can undermine some of the benefit of having an alarm.
If somebody manages to compromise the key box, they potentially have both the key to the property and the device required to disarm the alarm.
An external Ajax keypad keeps the two separate.
Even if somebody obtained the property key, they would still need the correct alarm PIN to disarm the security system.
For Airbnb and holiday-let owners, that's a simple but important additional layer of protection.
Security without intrusive CCTV
CCTV can be useful for protecting the exterior of a holiday property, but cameras can understandably feel intrusive to guests, particularly around accommodation where people expect privacy.
An intruder alarm offers a different approach.
Door contacts, motion detectors and other Ajax devices can protect the property without continuously filming your guests.
The system can provide security while allowing the accommodation to continue feeling like a private home during their stay.

Wireless installation with minimal disruption
Ajax is a professional wireless security system, making it particularly suitable for finished properties, period homes and holiday accommodation where owners don't want extensive cabling work.
Devices use long-life batteries, with battery life commonly measured in years rather than months, depending on the individual device, settings and usage.
That means there is no requirement to chase alarm cables through walls or undertake major decorating work after installation.
Ajax devices are also available in black and white, allowing us to design the installation around the appearance of the property rather than treating security equipment as an afterthought.
One system for owners, guests and property managers
A well-designed Airbnb security system needs to work differently depending on who is using the property.
The owner needs remote control and visibility.
The guest needs something straightforward that doesn't require technical knowledge.
The property manager or cleaner may need their own access.
And when the property is empty, the building needs reliable protection until the next booking.
Ajax allows us to design a security system around exactly this type of changing occupancy.
